Mambo

Mambo is becoming Joomla.

Mambo notes:

  • keep an eye on the WebDAV extension--imagine being able to save content straight from Word or OOo to content...
  • Also watch the podcasting discussions

Right now, all content must be in a category, and all categories must be in a section. At Freelock, we've chosen to use Sections to differentiate areas of a site that should be graphically distinct. For example, disable anonymous registration, use one section as a public site, and another section for an extranet.

Freelock Mambo Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between a Section and a Category?

Right now, Mambo has a three-level hierarchy of content. All dynamic content items must be in a Category, which is in a Section.

We use sections for majorly different parts of a site. For example, all of the main public site is in one section. We use a different section to set up a "fun" corner, or a "client" site, or various other needs. For the most part, though, everything goes in one main section.

What's the difference between a category title and a category Name?

Don't know. We'll put the answer here when we figure it out...
