What we can do for you!

What We Do

We make websites that make your organization run better.

Not just brochure sites. People come to us because they want to communicate with their customers, sell a variety of kinds of things (subscriptions, event registrations, products, points, content), manage interactions with potential customers, securely distribute information in groups, clean up hacked sites, or fix challenging interface problems.

Our platform of choice is Drupal, which started as a Content Management System (CMS) but is fast becoming an EMS -- an "Everything Management System." We enhance Drupal by building rich interactive browser experiences using the Dojo Toolkit.

What We Can Do For You

Event management. Project management. Vendor management. ECommerce. We build sites to help you organize and get things done.

We solve problems.

Lots of our business comes from people who have been unable to get the job done elsewhere.

The challenge with any web project is usually budget -- getting a polished, usable product to match a specific design can take far more budget than people expect. Our approach to addressing this concern is breaking down projects into Sprints, each sprint a focused group of tasks with a defined budget, starting with the things that will deliver the most business value as early as possible.

And then when the first sprint is done, we've delivered something of business value, we plan out the next one.

The launch of a new web site is the start of the project, not the end. You don't stop marketing when you've opened a new store -- marketing is an ongoing activity to keep the world aware you exist.

And even if a site is purely for internal use, organizations change and evolve over time. Most of our clients work with us on a monthly retainer basis, setting aside budget for steady work towards the current business goals.

Sample TCO

When you work with Freelock, you're not just getting a passive subcontractor. We bring opinions to the table. You hire us because we have decades of experience in a variety of industries, and knowledge of things that work and things that don't.

We partner with our customers to find the best solutions to help them succeed. And we're not shy about advocating some approaches over others, or pushing back when we think you're heading down a dead end.

We're not the cheapest shop out there, but with us you're getting more than just a developer -- you're getting a partner who can steer you clear of technology pitfalls, suggest possible new revenue streams or marketing outlets or workflow improvements -- we  deliver strategic value to your business along with our technical solutions.

Customer Feedback

If you are a user of business software and are interested in finding out more about open source options for your business or office, you may be a little bit frustrated about the lack of introductory-level information on this topic...

The best single source of such information that I have found so far is John Locke's "Open Source Solutions for Small Business Problems." It provides an excellent introduction to the concepts, advantages, and disadvantages behind open-source.
