I've been maintaining the matrix_api module on Drupal.org since 2016, nearly a decade of it doing one thing well: posting Drupal events into a Matrix room. This year that changed.
Last week, the Trump administration argued in court that providing ASL interpretation at White House briefings "would severely intrude on the President's prerogative to control the image he presents to the public." The National Association for the Deaf has sued to restore real-time ASL interpretation.
I'll be honest: before researching this post, audio description was the accessibility standard I knew the least about. I understood captions for deaf users - that's straightforward. But audio description? I knew it existed, but had never actually implemented it or really understood when it was necessary.
Last year I gave a presentation at DrupalCon about automating things using the powerful ECA Module. Here's the recording!
Owning a website in 2025 is not as freeform a thing as it was a couple decades ago. Much like the owner of a store or an amusement park ride has to pay some attention to safety hazards, now site owners can't simply neglect caring for the privacy of their visitors.
Stuart always has insightful things to say about Website analytics. Here's a conversation we had a while back, about the key things site owners should consider with their website analytics, and the serendipity to be found by digging through data and talking with each other.
Here's an introduction to Progressive Enhancements:
In April I gave a talk about Progressive Enhancements at the national DrupalCon 2022 conference in Portland. Here's a recording of the full session, which was targeted towards Drupal developers.

Max Dale's Steak House is a popular restaurant a few dozen miles up the road in Mt. Vernon, Washington. If you're not from this state, you might have heard of Mt. Vernon when a major Interstate bridge collapsed into the Skagit river. For a while, this led to a lot of extra business for Max Dale's, because the detour route went right by the restaurant.
After the bridge was replaced and put in service, Max Dale's needed a fresh web site, social media presence, and video to help remind people why they should take the detour for a great meal or social hour tonight!
Skagit Media Marketing led the effort, and partnered with us to deliver the first of our new Basic Business Sites.
